I’m GONNA Be a Contender!

Oct. 26, 2010

All those weights you sea lion around? Yeah, that’s right, I’ve been working out nonstop for the last three months! I AM the walrus, and all other marine boxers will tremble before me! I know it’s my porpoise in life to be the king of the ring, and I ain’t gonna let no otter competitor stand in my way!

My Best Gymnastics Event? The Balance Beam.

Oct. 22, 2010

funny animal photos-My Best Gymnastics Event? The Balance Beam.

I don’t know what it is about the balance beam. I am a terrible vaulter, and I can’t work the uneven bars to save my life. But I set one talon onto a balance beam, and all of a sudden I just feel so in the zone. I can tumble around effortlessly with otherworldly great, feeling light as a feather the whole time.

Now if only I could just compete in that single event… then I’d be an Olympian in no time at all!

From Buzzing to Breakbeats

Oct. 21, 2010

There’s definitely something melodic about a bee’s buzzing, but this video takes their trademark tones to a whole new level.

Using bee buzzes and very little else, this musician has constructed a song that’s better than all of the singles on the last Goldfrapp album. Isn’t that something!?

Purring Cougar = Best Thing Ever?

Oct. 19, 2010

Sure, the video is only 19 seconds long. But I dare you to find something else on the internet to better fill your squee quota with for the day.

I mean, yeah, it’s a cougar. When it grows up it’ll be big and scary and predatory and intimidating. But it will still be able to purr! And thus it will always be freakin’ adorable.

Google Maps Street View = Penguin Watching Made Easy!

Sep. 30, 2010

funny animal photos-Google Maps Street View = Penguin Watching Made Easy!

Google announced today that they’ve expanded their Street View Google Maps system to all seven continents, and this means so many amazing things for animal lovers. For example, now you don’t have to travel to Antarctica to track down a waddle of adorable penguins like the one above! You can now ogle their cuteness from the comfort of your computer desk.

Isn’t technology just amazing?

Cute, Smart AND Fast

Sep. 23, 2010

And people say mice are vermin! This little guy–aptly named Brain Storm by his owners–proves that fuzzy little rodents can be just as amazing and adorable as any other household pet.

Also, we all know no dog could ever hope to do that tightrope-walking nonsense that Brain Storm makes look sooooo easy.

He’s a HUGE Dylan Fan…

Sep. 23, 2010

… but Elliott the Elephant also draws influence from neo-classical visionaries Philip Glass and Kashiwa Daisuke, along with the motorik dance music of Kraftwerk and Neu!

This little ditty is his attempt at synthesizing all of his musical loves into one cohesive piece. I’d say he did a pretty good job, don’t you think?

Peregrine Skydiving

Sep. 15, 2010

Using a very unscientific experiment involving a hot air balloon and tandem skydiving, these bird lovers were able to determine that the peregrine falcon can comfortably dive at a speed of roughly 180 miles per hour.

And sure, there are probably more accurate and scientific methods of measuring a peregrine’s top speed, but the whole “skydiving with a bird” thing is WAY cooler.
