Really, all I want to do is cuddle… and he’s the softest thing in the house. Why must you automatically assume that just because I’m a cat I think all tiny rodents qualify as noms?

Okay, so I’m fine with being a chauffer for you kids… it’s that, or you try and swim through this mucky swamp by yourselves, and your parents would never forgive me if I let you do that, and something happened to you…
But could you at least tip me once in a while for my services? Just a single cricket every other ride, even? That’s all I’m really asking. Just remember, my services won’t always be gratis…
I’ve had it ever since I was a little baby lion. My mama gave it to me the day I was born. I know it’s old and starting to crack, but I just can’t give it up yet! Really, of everything I’ve ever owned and known and loved, this rock has always been the most special. It’s my absolute pride and joy.
I’m really quite jealous of this little wallaby. He takes his first-ever bounces and is flawless on his feet! When I first tried to walk as a child, I made it approximately four steps before falling on my face. And then my dad laughed at me and took snapshots of my bruise. And now that photo is framed and hanging on the wall of our dining room…
I guess what I’m trying to say is, I’d kill for this wallaby’s coordination. Twenty-some years later and I still can’t take four steps without falling on my face.

Hippos are well known for the symbiotic relationships they have with other animals in the wild. And apparently the same is true between baby hippos and humans. The look of pure bliss on this baby’s face is enough to cure any case of the Mondays, if you ask me.
And while you’re smiling like a little boy playing with his brand new Hot Wheels, the hippo’s getting a good petting. So everybody wins. Happy Monday!
